The Peshawar Zalmi will be up against the Quetta Gladiators in the second playoffs game of the third season of the Pakistan Super League. This game will be played on Tuesday in Lahore. This game will be played in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on March 20, 2018. The match will begin at 7 pm PST (2 pm GMT).
These were the two teams that had met in the final of the previous season’s PSL that was played in Lahore, the same ground where they meet yet again for this Eliminator. Yep, like that previous game at the Gaddafi Stadium, there would be no looking back for the team losing this game – they are out, done and dusted for the tournament.
The winner of this game will play against the Karachi Kings, the side that lost to the Islamabad United in the Qualifier that was played on Sunday in Dubai.
The question is who will this winner be. Will it be the Peshawar Zalmi who have come back from behind and made it to the playoffs at the expense of the Multan Sultans or would it be the Quetta Gladiators who had a very patchy tournament but still managed to qualify after finishing fourth in the league stages.
What makes it even more interesting is that over the three seasons of the competition, these two teams have played each other nine times – yep, that’s right. Nine. This is the most match-ups between any two sides, and both teams have won four matches apiece. Even in the two matches these two played each other during the league stages of the tournament, it was shared at one apiece.
The Zalmis are helped in the batting department by Kamran Akmal, who continues to deliver for PSL sides as he has done all these seasons. His 347 runs so far is the second-highest in the competition behind Luke Ronchi and it was his century last game that helped his side through.
Dwayne Smith and Mohammad Hafeez have chipped in with the bat too, while Wahab Riaz’s 14 wickets at 18 has been their standout bowling performance in the competition so far. Peshawar’s problem is there haven’t been too many bowlers supporting Riaz.
For the Gladiators, Shane Watson has done equally well with the bat like Kamran, but what makes his presence even more worthwhile is his bowling presence. He has 11 wickets at 25 to go with those runs with Rahat Ali’s 11 scalps doing equal damage.
If Rilee Rossouw and Sarfaraz Ahmed can get their act together, things could look rather good for the Gladiators. Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi Eliminator match prediction, betting tips & preview are placed below.
