Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators 9th T20 Predictions
Peshawar Zalmi vs. Quetta Gladiators 9th T20 Match Prediction 17 Feb 2016
Peshawar Zalmi Vs Quetta Gladiators (PZ vs QG) preview is placed here. The Pakistan Super League 2017 continues on Friday, February 17 when the Peshawar Zalmi take on the Quetta Gladiators in their match in Sharjah. This game will kick start at 3.30 pm local time (11.30 am GMT or 4.30 pm Pakistan time).
Quetta look favorites to win this game
It’s a top of the table clash with both sides, Peshawar and Quetta having won two of their three games. Islamabad United are the other side with two victories from three matches as well which means the winner of this game will become the first team to register a third win although having played a game more than Islamabad.
After batting second in two games in a row and winning both of them, the Gladiators were put into bat first by Islamabad in their previous match and managed to muster up just 148 from their 20 overs. They were propped up by a quick-fire start from Ahmed Shehzad but Kevin Pietersen’s first ball duck and just seven runs off the bat of in-form batsman Rilee Rossouw put brakes on the Quetta scoring.
Unfortunately for the Gladiators, the final acceleration came too late in the day off the bat of Thisara Perera by which time the side were five down and into the final five overs of the innings. Islamabad chased the total of 149 down in 19.1 overs thanks to ravishing 78 off the bat of Sam Billings with Mohammad Nawaz’s two-wicket haul being the only saviour for Quetta.
Perera’s 3.1 overs cost him 40 runs and that was a huge issue for the Gladiators. Peshawar are coming off an interesting couple of games. This was after they had batted first and piled up 190 in their opener against Islamabad but lost a rain-affected encounter. This was followed by the Zalmis opting to bat second against Karachi and Lahore and winning those games.
Karachi were restricted to 118 thanks to Mohammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz’s excellent spells and it went even better for them against Lahore who were bowled out for 59 when Hasan Ali captured three wickets. All other bowlers chipped in with a few wickets.
The trouble for Peshawar look to be their batting which struggled even to get to the score of 60, needing 17 overs and the loss of seven wickets to get to it. Eoin Morgan looks like the only batsman in any sort of form and one cannot rely on the prowess of just one man.
