Pakistan vs West Indies Series 2017 Preview & Prediction

Pakistan vs West Indies 2016

Pakistan vs West Indies prediction is placed here. Following the success of the second season of Pakistan Super League, the fans in the region are in for another treat as Pakistan’s tour of West Indies will commence later this month. The tour will comprise of four T20I, three ODI, four Test matches and a tour game. These matches will be played over the course of seven weeks, starting with the first T20I in Bridgetown on March 26th.

Pakistan won the first T20I against West Indies in Barbados by six wickets and with 17 balls to spare. West Indies batted first and were bundled out for 111 in 20 overs thanks to Shadab Khan’s three for seven from four overs. Shoaib Malik then guided the side to a win with an unbeaten 38 to his name.

And then Pakistan made it 2-0 thanks to Shadab Khan’s second successive MoM-winning performance in which he took a four-fer and bowled West Indies out for 129 after having scrapped their way to a score of 132 in the second T20I at Trinidad. Earlier, Wahab Riaz had hammered a quickfire 10-ball 24 to help his side get to that score.

West Indies pulled one back with a win in the third T20I when they chased down 138 in just 14.5 overs but Pakistan came back in the final game to crush the Windies by seven wickets and with an over to spare.

Pakistan then went on to win the ODI series 2-1 after having gone 1-0 down before taking a 1-0 lead in the Test series as well. In the second Test match, West Indies scored 312 batting first and Pakistan ended the second day at 172 for three in reply.

The two teams met last year in a similar series which was played in the United Arab Emirates. Over there, Pakistan dominated the scene superbly by overcoming the Indies in all the three formats of the game. They routed West Indies by 3-0 in the T20 series, with the best of those three wins coming by nine wickets.

A similar performance was given by the lads in the other formats too. They won the ODI series by 3-0 and the test series by 2-1. With such a healthy head to head record, Pakistan will be traveling to the Caribbeans, sailing high on confidence.

Not many changes have been made to the Pakistan’s squad which traveled to UAE last year. However, the ones made are quite notable, which includes the return of Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal to the main national team. The duo had a good run in the 2017 PSL, which gave the selectors enough confidence to pick them for this crucial series. Other players include Wahab Riaz, Imad Wasim and others, who had a good run in the visit to UAE last year.

Considering the performance of West Indies in the recent months, their form hasn’t been that particularly impressive. They failed to win a series last year in either of the three formats, thus raising questions on their form. Their form at home hasn’t been all that great either, given that they lost to England in the ODI series by 3-0, earlier this month.

With the greatness of West Indies, dwindling one match at a time, it is certainly a sight which no one would’ve expected of the current T20 World Champions. Individually, the players have been performing superbly in the domestic leagues across the world, but they have failed to perform coherently as a side.

The hosts lack the momentum in all the three formats, which makes them the underdogs for this series, despite having the home advantage. The management hasn’t decided on the squad as of now, but Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Lendl Simmons and Samuel Badree have been picked for the T20 leg of the series. It’ll be interesting to see how far they can take their team. Pakistan vs West Indies 2017 cricket prediction is placed below.
